A team from the 14th Finance Commission will visit Tripura in November.
The team will be led by commission’s chairman YV Reddy will arrive here on November 12.
Tripura Finance Minister Badal Choudhury the state government is preparing the report of state’s committed expenditures that will be given to the Commission. “We are contemplating to raise demands of equal salary, pension and Dearness Allowance (DA) for central and state government employees. The initial report on state’s liabilities and committee expenditures would be sent to Delhi shortly,” he said.
The Finance Commission delegation will have separate meetings with officials of the Finance Department and members of the state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar during the visit.
The 7th Pay Commission is scheduled to become operational from January 01, 2016. However, the central government has stated working on the proposals of the Commission since late. Expressing surprise on the issue, Finance Minister Choudhury said, “It is surprising indeed that there is a sudden activity for the new Pay Commission right ahead of the coming Parliament elections”.
